CIMAC Newsletter September 2023

Dear recipient,

It is a couple of weeks already since I took over from Prof. Donghan Jin as CIMAC President at the 30th World Congress of CIMAC. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my predecessor. He has guided the association with foresight through the very difficult period of the pandemic. As Past President, he will continue to serve on the Board in the future.

I am very much looking forward to the future work and will be tackling it together with my colleagues on the Board and the CIMAC team. We are all aware that the challenges ahead of us are not easy. Climate change and the associated challenges for the large engine industry are enormous tasks that need to be mastered. The IMO's revised greenhouse gas strategy from early July now includes a strengthened common goal of achieving net zero emissions from international shipping by 2050. This boosts our activities and encourages us even more that we are on the right track and doing the right thing. We live in exciting times: It is possible to shape and change, and we intend to do so to the best of our ability. That's a promise.

With kindest regards,

Rick Boom
CIMAC President
