The first CIMAC Tech-Talk by distinguished experts from the industry was held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 between 14:00-15:00 hrs CEST. The web event with the theme ‘The Value of Digitalization in the Maritime Industry’ was hosted by Eero Lehtovaara, Chair CIMAC Digitalization Strategy Group, Head of Regulatory Affairs, ABB Marine & Ports with the following esteemed guests from the industry taking stage as panellists: 
- Rolf Stiefel, Regional Chief Executive, Marine & Offshore, Bureau Veritas 
- Tim Kent, Technical Director, Marine and Offshore, Lloyd’s Register 
- Matthias Wiese, Director Strategy & Innovation Marine, Siemens Energy Global 
- Morten Vejlgaard-Laursen, Director & Head of Electrical and Automation, Maersk Line 

The discussion aimed at demystifying some of the aspects around the important topic of the onset of Digitalization in the maritime industry today and its impacts in terms of what value can be gained by all the stakeholders out of such a digital transition to newer methods and practices. After the initial introductions, the scene for dialogue is set by a short keynote by Morten Vejlgaard-Laursen providing us with a ship owner’s perspective on the topic.
